1 Venues
The BVA recognises that quality playing venues, available on a consistent and regular basis, are fundamental to maintaining the BVA’s credibility.
1.1 Bunbury Recreation Centre
1.1.1 We will negotiate with the new managers of the South West Sports centre to secure clubrooms or seek to share premises with other uses of the centre.
1.1.2 We will improve access to secure storage space at South West Sports Centre, thus reducing the incidence of damage to people and club equipment.
1.1.3 We will negotiate with the new Managers of the South West Sports Centre to secure additional playing times at the centre
1.2 Koombana Beach
1.2.1 We will liaise with the City of Bunbury to retain storage space at the kiosk.
1.2.2 We will liaise with the City of Bunbury to be permitted to erect permanent signage at the site designating it as the home for beach volleyball in the area.
1.3 Other venues
1.3.1 We will pursue other arrangements if they seem to have developmental, financial or other advantages.
2001-2002
Maintain quality of and accessibility to all existing playing facilities.
2002-2003
Explore the feasibility of developing a premier indoor court with seating for 500 at the South West Sports centre, capable of staging International competition matches
2 Equipment
Safe, quality equipment is an integral part of supplying a service to our members.
2.1 Indoor
2.1.1 We will improve or make or buy new scoreboards prior to the Autumn 2001 competition.
2.1.2 Six new indoor matchballs will be purchased for BVI 2001 and annually there after.
2.1.3 The second stage of replacement of our equipment at the Centre will take place.
2.1.4 Affix pole safety padding to two courts at the South West Sports Centre.
2.2 Beach
2.2.1 Upgrade all beach nets
2.2.2 Affix pole safety padding to three permanent courts
2.2.3 Acquire a good sound system which can also be used indoors
2001 – 2002
Secure adequate seating for all tournament and special event needs.
2002 - 2003
Investigate the use and availability of electronic scoring.
3 Training and Coaching
Regular access to coaching from qualified and experienced coaches is important for the development of our players.
3.1 Conduct three coaching clinics in addition to weekly training sessions.
3.2 We will organise a Coaching Accreditation Level One course.
3.3 The register of coaches will be maintained with names and particulars of qualified coaches.
3.4 We will provide training venues and coaches for all representative teams.
3.5 We will provide training/coaching sessions for individuals and teams, separate from the Bunbury representative sessions where needed.
3.6 Two general skills development sessions for Beach will be conducted
2001 - 2002
We will organise one session for Coaching Accreditation Level Two and further Level One courses as required.
2002 – 2003
Additional coaching accreditation courses to be offered as required
4 Standards of Play
The BVA will grow as an association through the development of our teams in the competitions.
4.1 We will endeavour that at least one team from another locality will participate in our indoor competitions.
4.2 We will endeavour to send three Bunbury representative teams to the majority of Perth and regional tournaments attended by the BVA.
4.3 We will continue to maintain at least one ‘travelling team’ to participate either in comps outside Bunbury or in informal games/tournaments in the South West Region.
4.4 We will have regular or at least two round robin events with teams from other SW towns
i.e. Collie, Busselton or Margaret River.
4.5 We will regain the status of Champion Country Association at the 2001 Country C/ships

Explore the development opportunity for a South West Volleyball league.
2002 - 2003
State team squad selection developed where appropriate
5 Juniors
Maintaining and developing a sound Junior competition is essential for the BVA’s future.
5.1 We will maintain at least two Junior teams to participate in Beach events.
5.2 Coaching sessions will be conducted by accredited coaches for Juniors as and when required.
5.3 We will develop at least one Junior Bunbury representative team
5.4 We will develop a package for juniors, which includes information on BVA, umpiring, rules in brief, coaching/training facilities.
2001 - 2002
Explore the prospects of employing a Junior Development officer for School and Age divisions on a casual session by session basis
2002 – 2003
Explore the prospects of employing a permanent part-time Junior Development officer for the South West region
6 Standards of Umpiring
Enforcing the rules of Volleyball will not only enhance players skills, but also allows BVA players to compete against other Associations/Clubs with confidence.
6.1 We will conduct a Level One Accreditation course.
6.2 We will hold one Level Two Accreditation session.
6.3 The register of qualified umpires will be regularly maintained.
6.4 We will actively pursue at least half of all indoor teams have at least one accredited umpire as a member of their team.
6.5 In grades other than A-grade, modified rules will be applied to encourage continuity of play.
6.6 We will maintain a short version of the most important rules. It will include the most common hand-signals of the referees (pictorial).
6.7 Referee coordinator to be appointed
2001 - 2002
Referee accreditation courses conducted as and when required.
2002 – 2003
Support given to BVA referees to officiate at State Level competitions
7 Professionalism/Image
Developing the BVA’s public face is seen as an essential facet of our future. Pride and loyalty will be fostered in all BVA activities.
7.1 All players in representative teams will be provided ‘Bunbury’ uniforms, that will remain the property of the BVA.
7.2 All players in representative teams will be required to wear identical shorts.
7.3 All forms (ie. scoresheets, nomination forms etc.) will be standardised, where appropriate.
7.4 We will maintain the use of an induction kit for new Committee Members or for other persons who help BVA in their goals.
7.5 We will offer the possibility to nominate for all BVA comps and tournaments via the internet and further develop our home page.
7.6 We will use email and Internet within our committee for more efficient and speedy information flow.
7.7 We will lay the foundation for an National or International volleyball match/tournament to be staged in Bunbury in 2001 or 2002.
2001 - 2002
Appointment of a Volunteer Co-ordinator to be investigated
2002 - 2003
Secure an office presence for BVA and Junior Development Officer.
8 Marketing
Our planning, promotions and pricing will be directed to maximise player registrations and the services to our players.
8.1 We will further develop the BVA slogan and add to its use as and when required.
8.2 We will maintain regular newsletters, at least one for each competition.
8.3 Against current trends we, will maintain present levels of the number of teams in:
8.3.1 Corporate Cup at 22
8.3.2 Beach Y2K at 14
8.3.3 Indoor 2001 at 26
8.4 We will maintain player registrations by continuing to use sound marketing strategies.
8.5 Increase focus on the marketing of Beach Volleyball, with particular emphasis on mixed social competitions.
2001 - 2002
We will investigate the opportunities for BVA branded merchandise.
2002 - 2003
Significant Bunbury physical feature to be developed to promote volleyball
9 Player Registration
A sound customer service focus is a priority that will be greatly facilitated by an accurate database on our members.
9.1 We will have 100 % player registration at all times.
9.2 We will maintain and enforce the rule that without registration, players can not play.
9.3 We will further develop our database to be used for administrative and communication purposes, without invading member’s privacy.
9.4 We will investigate opportunities to provide ‘value added’ benefits to our registered players.
9.5 Registration card to be issued to every player.
9.6 We will explore opportunities to link BVA database with WA Volleyball Association records through products such as Telstra SportNet
2001 - 2002
Analyse BVA registrations and develop player profile as part of South West Region Volleyball Census project
2002 – 2003
Increase ‘valued added’ services to members as and where possible
10 Sponsors
Forging business partnerships is important to the BVA’s strategic development.
10.1 We will retain our current sponsors at an increased level of support.
10.2 We will continue to provide feedback to our current sponsors.
10.3 We will attract at least one new major sponsor.
10.4 We will attract at least two minor sponsors.
2001 - 2002
Sponsor for Junior Development Program to be secured.
2002 - 2003
Relationship developed with VWA sponsors to further enhance regional development
11 Finance/Administration
Sound financial management, administration and record keeping will be the feature of the BVA’s corporate activities.
11.1 We will maintain cashflow projections for all programs.
11.2 We will provide a budget for each event before it takes place.
11.3 Government funding will be sought for all eligible programs.
11.4 We will develop a Business Plan.
2001 -2002
Secure financial support for Junior Development Officer Program.
2002 - 2003
Secure appropriate technology and software to efficiently handle business management requirements of the BVA.
12 Bunbury Volleyball Invitational Tournament
This BVI Tournament is the flagship of BVA’s competitive calendar, and perceived to be the premier WA Country Volleyball tournament .
12.1 We will promote the BVI more locally for players and spectators alike.
12.2 Raise the public image by maintaining compulsory uniforms for all teams and greatly increasing local media coverage.
12.3 Expand the use of a theme on the windup night to encourage participation, whilst rescheduling this function to the Saturday evening.
12.4 We will introduce a “Masters” division for the BVI
2001 -2002
Explore opportunities to further expand or enhance this tournament.
2002 - 2003
Maintain tradition of BVI by staging further annual events
13 General
All BVA activities will be conducted in an ethical and responsible way.
13.1 We will do everything reasonable to retain active and good committee members.
13.2 Our bylaws will be reviewed prior the 2001 AGM.
13.3 We will further develop our relationship with WA Volleyball Assoc.
13.4 We will continue to develop partnerships with other country clubs/associations.
